Scaramouche Jones Held Over for One More Weekend!!!

Pauline Productions Inaugurates New Outdoor Amphitheater in Goshen

Over the past two years, Artistic Director of Pauline Productions, Jeannine Haas has been watching Richard Richardson slowly but surely sculpt his stone amphitheater which is nestled amidst his other smaller stone gardens. Haas and Richardson spoke informally about the theatre's possibilities. This summer, Richardson's stone theatre is finished and Pauline Productions will be the first theatre company to perform in it.

The show Jeannine has chosen is the one-man show SCARAMOUCHE JONES written by British playwright Justin Butcher. "This play invokes a kind of magic, and it has the feeling of the sacred to me." Jeannine says. "It does what only live theatre can do--a kind of alchemy: One single actor by his exquisite powers and the power of the art form, transports us through time and space. As we are immersed, we feel what he feels and know it in our own bones. This piece is a good fit with the sacred and magical space Richard has created."

Scaramouche Jones by Justin Butcher
Directed by Jeannine Haas ~ Starring Rylan Morsbach

On the eve of the millennium, Scaramocuhe Jones, a 100-year old pale faced Gypsy clown breaks a fifty year silence to tell his life story. We are taken on a journey from the slums of Trinidad to England, via Africa, Italy and wartime Poland: an odyssey spanning the entire 20th Century. He recounts thrilling ventures, comic misadventures, loves and brutalities--"fear and delight"--that formed upon his face, The Seven White Masks of Scaramouche (alternative title).
